It's Time Patients Got Their Drugs on Time
"Talking with people suffering from Parkinson's Disease has opened my eyes to the problems they face. I was particularly moved when one man explained to me how, although he might be feeling intense joy, he could no longer smile, not even, as he put it, at a new born baby. But I have also seen the great strides made in treatment, making it possible to live more fulfilling lives and keeping family life as normal as possible, for Parkinson's is not just a disease of the elderly, it affects young parents, even children. People with Parkinson's rely on a number of drugs that are tailored and timed to their particular needs and as a result allow control of movement. With an uneven release of the drugs, a person may suddenly not be able to move, get out of bed or walk down the corridor...." |
