The fog of sleep refuses to dissipate as you thrust away a drool-soaked pillow and lurch out of bed, your body shaking uncontrollably as if strapped to a jackhammer. Your vision has deteriorated in the past several months, and the alarm clock is now just a fuzzy blur. But you don't need it to know that you're about to be late for a vital presentation at work. You really have to nail this one, but the chronic tremors made sleep impossible and you will have to go through the motions in a stupor. Maybe you'll still have a job at 5 o'clock. Heightened anxiety has now turned the shaking into outright flailing, and getting dressed requires Herculean effort. Then you realize that, for the fourth time this week, you have no idea where your keys and wallet are. Bile rises in your throat as you fight a toxic emotional stew of frustration and despair...... |
